July 2010

Every summer from the time I was born we went up to our ranch in the Weber mountains of Utah. We'd hike, ride horses, fish, roast marshmallows, build campfires, play games, and spend time with the family. It's one of my favorite places and always one of my favorite memories. The bigger our family gets to more chaotic it is to take everyone but I hope it can still stay a tradition. Especially because Etta LOVES horses and the outdoors.

We also spend TONS of time swimming in the summer. When we don't want to make the trek to our community pool we just set up the little kiddie pool in the front yard for all the neighborhood kids to splash around in. For some reason Etta decided to get in in her clothes which resulted in this diaper situation.

This is what she thought of being objectified...we were laughing hysterically!

Then we had my moms birthday of coarse...

And we did tons of playing with friends...

On this morning Etta was watching a movie intently so I thought I would try to braid her hair while she was distracted... it turned out soooo cute!

Then we had the Fourth of July at Margaret's house which was a blast.

Etta liked the fireworks a little more this year...still a little loud and scary though...

Our best attempt at a family pic but unfortunately Liam was already in bed...

We have so much fun here in the summer! I'm always wishing for fall by the time august comes around then always wishing for it back by the time January comes around...
more to come!

Fourth of July

So my "white cake" dessert has become my go-to easy crowd pleasin' treat. It's simply box white cake, with a special whipped topping, and raspberry glazed fruit on top. This time I thought why not make it like a flag for the fourth? So this is my attempt, it proved difficult when the glaze started encroaching on the white stripes and there wasn't enough frosting for the stars (which were a total after thought) so yes I know, it doesn't have any stars. Rob says I don't support the union...

Aaaand I made a fruit tart...mmmmm. (PS-Let me know if you guys are interested in recipes).

Aaaand have the cutest baby in the world. I understand this is an excess of pictures that are quite similar but I couldn't help myself, they were all so adorable.

This is how books are dealt with in the Neilson house. You must first test the significance by tasting the book.

If it passes that test you should fiddle with it for a while and try to tear it apart.

Then, and only then...

do you commence to read.

We had such a fun day at Margaret's eating barbecue and watching fireworks. It was one of Elizabeth's latest nights out...and she was wiped.  All she needed was some quality snuggle time with Hugo and her day was complete. Thanks again Margaret and happy fourth!

Happy Fourth!

Babies first fourth of july. So everyone told me that clothes run sooo small..."Don't buy any newborn stuff." So let me just tell you. This is a newborn outfit. I'm not quite sure why this hasn't been the case for me because seriously everyone I know told me that? But here's your evidence...from headband to socks...nothing fits! Happy fourth cutie!
